$100

This Arts and Crafts Period (?) hearth pot, based on its form, is from the very late 19th century. This pot is primative in its form and hammering and has a swing handle with a loop. Overall the piece is in fine condition. Of course there's some age-appropriate wear and the interior is patinated. A very special addition to the hearth, it will be perfect to hold kindling, pine cones and such all winter. Naturally a piece this old is hand-wrought. I measures a bit less than a 7 inch diameter at the top with a slight "bellying" near the bottom. It is 4" high and weighs about a pound and a half

$250

This gorgeous Arts and Crafts Coal Hod is from the very late 19th century, early 20th century. Later coal hods, also called coal scuttles, had, like this one, a more vertical helmet shape and swing handles. This hod, as you see, has one fixed and one swinging handle. It weighs about 4 pounds. The mounts appear to be dark brass or bronze. Overall the piece is in excellent condition: beautiful, sturdy and useful. A very special addition to the hearth, it will be perfect to hold kindling, pine cones and such all winter -- and make a great magazine holder in summertime, too, since it's so long: 12 inches back to front. Width is 10 inches and height is 10 inches. Naturally a piece this old is hand-wrought. Hallmark on the bottom would indicate that it was made in Aurora-- a place synonemous with the Roycroft movement
